A call out of the blue

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

This was a telephone call that came out of the blue. I had phoned on 17th September as my breathing had got worse and more sputum. When I eventually got a call back, I was just sent some website addresses with not links. I can only assume this was a follow up call as I had not requested it, and to be honest not sure of its purpose as I would have phoned my practice if it had not improved. There was obviously no face to face appointments, and I am well over my respiratory review, at my surgery. I have no idea of where Somerstown Surgery is.

Flu Jab

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

After an initial misunderstanding as to whether I should have been given an appointment for the jab, it was sorted. The staff I met (the receptionist and the nurse) were very helpful and efficient. The waiting room and surgery were spotless and PPE and Social Distancing were observed at all times.
My previous surgery has now merged with the Portsdown Practice so this was my first visit to this location.

Tummy pain

Diabetic review.

Arrived on time, waited about 5mins, nurse took blood pressure, checked feet, weighed, took blood sample. Nurse was very friendly and very informative....very satisfied.

Nurse Appointment

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I arrived for my smear test. On arrival I was quickly checked for covid and directed to the hand sanitizer for before and after checking in. I didn't have to wait long and was called through. The nurse was brilliant. Very adept with her technique. The door was locked for privacy which I appreciated.

I went for a blood test, warned the nurse my veins like to hide ( at my old practice always came out looking like I had been used as a pin cushion), the first vein evaded her but she found one in my other arm, for once it was a painless experience and left no bruising.

The member of staff who did my NHS health check was friendly and helpful .She also kindly arranged for Dr Kyd to administer a vaccine booster for me that was outstanding .Dr Kyd was efficient, kind and helpful and saw me quickly.

It is indeed very easy to book a variety of appointments, such as blood tests, routine GP telephone consultations, smear tests, flu jabs, B12 appointments. We are always reviewing what we can offer online with a view to extending where we can. Don't forget you can also view results using online services - you barely need to talk to us anymore, but you know where we are when you need to!

I felt everything at the surgery went very smoothly. Something really has to be done about the phone lines trying to get through to make an appointment. When mum was at Hanway group practice it was a much more personal experience and a lot easier.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.
