Impossible to get an appointment
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
The appointment system does not work for
My family. For my mum In a card home, they were unable to get an appointment resulting in my mum deteriorating and dying.
My on going pain, no scan date can’t now get another appointment to chase up again as I am working.
My daughter needs an appointment but is very nervous of attending and explaining enough to be taken seriously.

Thank you for your feedback, we are constantly looking at ways of improving access to our patients, at a challenging time for the NHS in general and for Primary Care in particular. In October the average waiting time for a call to be answered was 4.09 minutes at our busiest morning period and 0.41 minutes for the afternoon period. We answered an average of 433 calls in the morning and an average of 219 calls in the afternoon.

Blood test
This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery
The nurse got my blood first time because some of them have to mine for it, getting it first time makes it more comfortable and leaves no marks and she was also a very happy person.

Flu jab appt
This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery
Was quite shocked about the lack of questions asked before I received my injection. Also my temperature was not taken before entering the premises, unlike the strict and good guidelines in the main Cosham surgery. I sat down, was asked if I felt ok and had to state my name and date of birth, that was it.

Happy overall.
Just wish it was easy to make appointments.
Even a call back app for meds review seems elusive.

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently working hard to reduce our 'Do Not Attends,' in October at Kingston Crescent 135 appointments were not attended, this is a total of lost clinician time of 55.3 hours or 2.3 weeks, an average cost of £1,729. If these had been cancelled more appointments would have been available to others.

An appointment with the nurse was really good, she listened to my concerns and while I was there she asked whether I wanted my flu jab which I found really helpful.

Patient Survey
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
Since our previous practice Hanway merged with Portsdown our patient experience has been between poor to abysmal. Whoever planned and decided to provide a single point of telephone contact for 5 separate practices does have any idea of service provision. The telephone is always busy and to speak to a receptionist is virtually impossible. Even if you make a visit to the local practice you are told to contact the practice telephone. I was even advised by a so called healthcare professional that rather than request the supply of gluten free bread & rolls from the NHS I should consider buying gluten free bread & rolls from a supermarket as the amount & cost these products was comparable with standard bread. Since when has a practice become involved in NHS finance policy? I was not asking for something that I was not entitled and secondly the information was provided by the Dietetics Dept which is part of the NHS. I understood that GP practices are supposed to provide a service to its patient community not to provide advice on financial matters.

All I wanted was a blood test
This is a review for Heyward Road Surgery & Practice
A ridiculous system, I went on websites, filled in forms, wrote 4 emails and eventually had a doctor ring me who couldn’t believe herself that she was calling me in the evening to book a blood test.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

No communication between departments
This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery
I feel that there is no communication between departments, the right hand does not seem to know what the left is doing. Pharmacy don't appear to receive prescriptions even when I was sitting with the doctor when he wired the script over, pharmacy said they had no script and this was 3 days later. Doctor does not seem to know how pharmacy works.
I have not had any meds reviews for more than 5/6 years but have now had 2 July and October, the pharmacist, I presume that's who he was, very pleasant fellow, did not know what I was taking meds for and asked ME? why I was taking them?
Had letter through asking me to go see nurse for fasting blood tests and blood pressure test, again she was lovely but failed, until I reminded her, to take blood pressure.
I just find that nothing ever runs smoothly at your surgery and had not done so for quite a few years, so cannot be put down to the COVID crisis.
As said before your employees are lovely and mostly very helpful, but things just don't seem to run very smoothly, as mentioned before, the right hand does not seem to know what the left is doing.

Cosham Park House
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
When I went for my appointment on 21/09/2020 at CPH for a blood test everything went will with Mandy and I definitely would give 5 stars but I had to go to CPH on 20/09/2020 for the flu jab I found it very difficult as there was a one way system so I went in the main doors but when I had my jab they told me to go out the door which is opposite the main gate and I have to use a frame to help me walk and I had to go down a lot of steps which was very difficult and I nearly fell down them so this appointment I would really only give 2 stars. One of the staff members opened the door for me but when I commented on the steps I was expecting her to help me down the steps but I was left to try and do it myself. I fell that, that was not a very good service to give a disabled person.
On some of the other questions I have only given 3 stars where one appointment deserved 5 stars and the other appointment deserved 2 stars.

Amazing Staff throughout.
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
I have been a patient at the ports down Practice for two years. Every member of staff that I who’ve spoken to on the telephone has been most courteous and polite. Having done the job myself, it isn’t easy especially when people can be quite rude. Well done for your professionalism and efficiency.
The service at the group of practices is second to none and all staff have been amazing especially through this wretched Covid situation. Thank you.
