Triage nurse for blood test

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

Excellent communication on my two visits. I explained to the nurse that this was my first visit to this surgery as I have been shielding and I explained that I was a little nervous. Both the nurses were very understanding and put me at ease. Thank you to all the staff it’s very reassuring to know that this is a a safe surgery.

Was awaiting telephone consultation

Telephone consultation first one didn’t come through and when I asked why was told rang three times but no missed calls on my mobile. I made another appointment and that didn’t get here either , then got text saying maybe on 1st which did happen to review meds .as you can imagine I wasn’t very amused but all sorted now the appointment was with the pharmacist thank you

Booking appointments.

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I recently tried to book a blood test at Somerstown Surgery. For the first three attempts I had the message about heavy demand and trying again later. I then got through. After listening to the message and being given options, I pressed two and waited. I timed my wait. It was twenty minutes. I had the phone on hands free but I had to keep pressing two so it was difficult to get on with anything else. Also I had to listen to all four options before selecting the one I wanted. I eventually got through ( the next day). This time after a fifteen minute wait. I was told I was tenth in the queue. At last I didn’t have to keep pressing a button this time. I think your service is brilliant and I am grateful for the NHS but the booking system doesn’t work.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Crookhorn Lane Surgery

Times of intense frustration when prescriptions don't get received by the pharmacy and both the pharmacy and the surgery seem to blame the other. Due to opening hours it can end up 4 days before getting the medication.
However, when contacting by phone (when eventually getting through the recorded messages) the staff are very understanding.

Same day request for blood pressure examination

I recently had a blood test and pressure examination, and my blood pressure was higher than normal as I have been self monitoring at home was advised if it was constantly high to inform the surgery I spoke to the doctor on the phone and was told to come in for a check up. He then after examination increased the medication dose but requested I booked an appointment for a blood test and pressure check in two weeks the response I had was very quick and I was well satisfied with the treatment thank you.

Annual blood test at surgery

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

Arrived at Crookhorn surgery, (Wearing a face mask) which had clear instructions on door of procedure. Rang bell and a receptionist arrived at door and requested name and appointment time, and advised me she needed to check my temperature, told me it was ok and to use computer to book in and then take a seat, which were more than two metres apart. After a few minutes the nurse came out and showed me the way to the consultation room and carried out the procedure and answered all of my questions, she then opened the door for me to leave the room.
The exit doors are automatic.
The whole experience gave me the feeling that everything was clinical, professional and a safe environment.
