Blood test appointment

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I had to go to this surgery for a blood test, as my local one is not doing them due to Covid-19. I arrived at the wrong entrance at the opposite end of the hub, so I was late. It was a five minute walk to the correct end but they still booked me in as only 8 minutes late. I had my test. It went well and was fairly painless and quick. I wish I had been given better directions by my surgery and also told that there was a car park. The staff were friendly and helpful here.

Incorrect telephone message

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

When I called to make an appointment the message on the phone said you could only call after 10:00 am for a routine appointment and to hang up. I made the call at 11:00 am. I did not hang up and did get through and make an appointment, but if I had adhered to the message instructions I would have been stuck. It takes a long time to get through now and the line is often engaged for long periods of time. This makes it very difficult making an appointment when you are calling from work and have limited time.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

I felt very safe on arrival, the staff made every attempt to cater for my wellbeing with a kind and thoughtful visit. Even at these sad times with this pandemic all involved had an uplifting smile and the experience was very professional.

Find whole process very muddled and communication poor and very concerned things will get missed , do not know if talking to a doctor, nurse , chemist
Feeling just a number and no confident being listened to last time I felt this way was told it’s stress /depression then had heart attacks , I do appreciate however we are in difficult times

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.
