Although the nurse who undertook the appointment for myself and my baby for our 6 week check kindly took the time to also complete a blood test for me I was shocked by her professionalism. Firstly as a first time mum suffering with anxiety, I entered the appointment very tearful due to being very scared about being out of the house with my baby. She asked me what was wrong and I said I was worried my baby may get the virus to which she replied well if she does it won’t really affect her much anyway which I was shocked at. During the examination of my baby she then put her finger in my baby’s mouth to stop her crying. This made me very worried due to the virus being around at the moment and Her putting her finger in my baby’s mouth without my consent and I also felt it was very unnecessary. I was very unsure why she had done this and then she said that it was to stop my baby from crying. Although the nurse was wearing gloves it did not fill me with confidence that this had happened and then spent the next few days worrying about the health of my baby.
A few days after the appointment I had a telephone Appointment with my health visitor who had my baby’s notes on the screen. Nothing about my anxiety had been recorded as well as my baby’s head circumference measurement being missed off. The nurse had put no measurement and just plotted it as the 50 centile. When I gave the health visitor the measure it was actually the 75th centile. The nurse’s initials were CC. I was so unhappy with the service I received that I made sure that my appointment was for my baby’s immunisations was booked at another clinic so that I would not see her again.

Query : how to arrange an appointment for a blood test

Excellent service. The receptionist was extremely patient and dealt with my query, explaining that I would have to phone at 10.00 for a blood test appointment.
She was reassuring and polite, taking plenty of time to ensure that I knew what to do and who to phone.

Pandemic and Blood test!
Having been called to have a blood test for pre diabetes screening, we were asked to wear a face mask, which I did and I chose to wear gloves as well. I have been self isolating due to my age, the receptionist is always very friendly and helpful. The nurse who took the blood was well protected and explained why she had to wear it, also very efficient and friendly.

I had a blood test. Waiting time and arrangements were satisfactory. Staff were courteous and efficient.
Test results show four quantities outside reference range, but result is "Satisfactory" and "no further action" is required. I would like that result to be confirmed and explained.

Blood Test

This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

I arrived at the Surgery 5 minutes ahead of my appointment for a Blood Test. There was one person ahead of me at the Receptionist. Consequently I remained outside the closed double-door entrance until he was admitted to the waiting room. I showed my appoinment sheet and was was also admitted into that room. I was wearing PPE equipment and sat a Social Distance from this other person who (as I found out) had arrived well before his appoinment time but was still admitted to the room. He was not wearing any form of protective mask or gloves.
We both waited for around 5 more minutes during which time two other people were allowed into the room. None were wearing any masks and their positioning within the enclosed room made observing Social Distancing near impossible due to the numbers present. Plus one of them had a cough!!!
My name was called for my Blood Test just as a fifth person arrived at the receptionist window.
At my Doctor's Surgery there is a very strict limit as to the numbers allowed into the waiting room and bascially follows a sensible one out replaced by one in, with any excess having to wait outside.
I was appalled by what I witnessed in terms of the bad organisation. No wonder Covid 19 is still being spread.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations. However, we can assure you that we take social distancing very seriously. As you would have seen in the waiting area, we have taped over seating with appropriate signage to ensure people remain 2 metres apart. Our maximum capacity in the waiting room at Paulsgrove is four people. However, that said, we have asked patients not to attend the surgery until near their waiting time and so the person ahead of you, assuming they were more than 5 minutes early, should not have been admitted to the waiting area. We have since reiterated this to our reception teams to ensure we adhere to this.

All of our sites have been assessed and seating removed or excluded to ensure social distancing is safely observed.

We ask patients to wear a face covering if they attend our sites, to further reduce risk to staff and patients. However, it is not a mandatory requirement and we are not comfortable turning a patient away who we have deemed requires a medical consultation.

Whilst we cannot comment on the patient who coughed, we do remind patients not to attend if they have COVID symptoms and this is reiterated on arrival at our sites.

I was somewhat surprised to receive a call asking for me to attend the surgery for tests. These tests then lead on to another call asking me to attend QA on a certain date. THis did unnerve me slightly. I did attend which lead on to me having 2 stents fitted. The service I have recieved from the Surgery and NHS in general has been superb. However, the initial call and subsequent events did come out of the blue and has given my wife and myself some slight distress.

I can't believe the negative comments made. I have never had a bad experience at this surgery from receptionists to nurses to GPs. They are all without exception extremely friendly, professional, and caring. It's sometimes difficult to get an appointment but that's the same everywhere. The eConsult form works well and I have received very prompt responses. Thank you all!
