Blood tests requested by the surgery

5 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I received a phone call to inform me that I needed a blood test in spite of receiving nothing from the hospital where I have 1 set of annual blood tests. This was completed on time and as I had trouble with the blood pressure machine - this was taken too. Efficient and friendly.

It’s been rather difficult and frustrating getting an appointment to see a doctor. The process needs to be reviewed. The online appointment booking has not worked for me. There’s never an appointment available on there from my experience.

Thank you for your feedback, we are constantly looking at ways of improving access to our patients, at a challenging time for the NHS in general and for Primary Care in particular. In September the average waiting time for a call to be answered was 4.09 minutes at our busiest morning period and 0.41 minutes for the afternoon period. We answered an average of 433 calls in the morning and an average of 219 calls in the afternoon.

Long time spent on the phone waiting

3 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

workingfeedback logo
My biggest issue is with the phone system. It’s very obvious that having a central call centre might offer savings but if there’s not enough people working to respond then you have to wait too long. Then you tend to get shifted around and sometime the call just gets lost and you have to start all over again. In the past I’ve been on the phone in excessive of 40mins. Please just have the system ask which surgery and be put through directly to that surgery.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Blood test was a straight forward routine appointment that was spot on time. No issues and nurse was very pleasant and polite. As blood taken was sent to QAH for analysis I cannot pass comment further on practice participation on this treatment outcome.

Have had to contact call center last year for an on going medical problem. Whilst I understand you have to be in a queue on several occasions having waited for numbers to go down ,when eventually at number one I have been left waiting and then cut off Have then gone to surgery myself to get help ..Explained why but although reception have sorted the problem ,no answer as to why I was cut off from call center Time consuming and frustrating sorry.

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

Out of date service

2 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

workingfeedback logo
The surgery needs to adopt a more modern and updated approach to patient service, most of the appointments and enquires could be answered by E-mail and face to face phone conversation. Prescription's take far to long to to be issued and opening hours are to confined to shop hours. The surgery needs to change.

Making a doctors appointment

2 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

workingfeedback logo
When you are not feeling yourself and consider you might need to see a doctor you need to feel that your 'phone call for that appointment is important. On several occasions either on the 'phone or in person I feel as though I am being an inconvenience and the service from the reception is poor. I would add that the last time I booked an appointment on the 'phone I was surprised to get one for the following week, but again the tone of the conversation lacked what I would call ' Customer Service'

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to assure you that all of our staff are fully trained in customer care. They do, however, work in what can, at times, be a stressful environment and have to endure unacceptable levels of abuse. Thank you again for your feedback, which will be shared with our Surgery Reception Teams.

Health Check Appointment

The most frustrating part of the whole experience is how long it takes to actually telephone through to book a routine appointment, I waited 15 minutes in the queue before I spoke to someone. The actual visit to the surgery was was a good experience and the nurse who carried out my health check was friendly and very knowledgeable about the procedure, explaining everything she was doing along the way.

Prompt response

4 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

workingfeedback logo
Following my recent experience walking in asking to see the doctor I was very impressed with the general response of the staff and doctors. I thought the request was promptly passed to the doctor and the doctor promptly responded. At my first experience the doctor called me up in a matter of minutes whilst I was still at the car park to book me for a appointment in about an hours time. My second experience was that prompt as well. On both occasions I was sorted under an hour. I thought to say its a great improvement.

Call backs and emergency appointments

4 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I cannot fault the call back service and the emergency appointments.
I have needed these a few times, I didn’t have to wait too long and I was treated with respect and felt I was being really listened to. The routine appointments are a bit different, and I always struggle to get an appointment. These appointments are usually for meds reviews etc (before I can request more meds), this has meant at times I have run out of meds before I can get an appointment. I don’t feel I should take an emergency app for meds review, but if face to face app is not essential I will now try for a call back appointment.
Overall I am very happy with Kingston crescent surgery.
