My appointment was within the timescale. The problem was I was asked to contact the reception to arrange a doctors call back to discus my blood results. I was informed that no appointments were available. I tried to explain that I did not request the appointment it was the doctor. I was told to call back later to book an appointment, when I asked if I would be given an appointment then she informed me that there still may be none. There have been many stories of people trying to get appointments, waiting 20+ minutes to be told none available. I think the appointment system should be reviewed so that people with long term health issues are given priority, thank you

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Routine appointment

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I booked an appt online to speak to a GP about medication that I am taking because it isn't working for me, but when I arrived it had somehow been changed (not by me) to the nurses clinic. Nurse was quite "offish" initially and said that she couldn't help me and that I needed to go to reception. I explained to receptionist that i needed to speak to someone and got told that she couldn't help and I had to fill a form in to get a 12 month prescription. I said i dont want that because i need to speak to someone and I was told that that was all that could be done until I get a routine appt. I have been trying for a month to get a routine appt by calling and looking online. I have spent on average 3 and a half hours a week on the phone trying to get an appt and there are never any ( hence why I gave myself 1 month to get it sorted) I dont have that time to spare with 2 young children. You can imagine how angry I was when I booked an appt online only to get there and it had been changed to the nurses clinic! I reluctantly filled the form in and was told that within 3 working days prescription would be ready and that within the time I will hopefully get a routine appt to speak to a GP. On the 4th working day I went to get my prescription and was told that there was no record of the form I had completed and be cause it's a busy period I need to allow them another day or so to get prescription ready. I was fuming as it should have been ready by the 3rd working day. I returned on the 6th working day, still no record or prescription got told to fill the form in again as it is the office "somewhere" and they will speed it through. In the office somewhere is completely unacceptable. It might not be life or death medication but I need it until I can get a routine appt. That is why I gave a month to get it! A prescription was done the end of last week but it has still not been signed and I'm having a battle with the chemist and surgery to get it.
I am appalled by the service at the surgery, it has gone severely down hill and I am changing surgeries taking the rest of my family too. I never used to have problems, but a month to try and get an appt is absolutely outrageous. I would much rather have to travel further to another surgery knowing that I will get seen within a reasonable time rather then spending hours on the phone and looking online. There is no point in me discussing this issue with them directly as they wont take it on board. I know lots of patients that have moved from this surgery over the last few weeks and are much happier and get treated like a person rather than a nuisance elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

Phoned Cosham Park House Surgery early on a Monday morning expecting to wait a while in the telephone queue, call was answered within 5 mins, I was told I was put on the system for a doctor to call me back again for a Monday morning, expected a call a lot later but shortly after a doctor called me back and he booked me an appointment to be seen approximately 45 min later, very impressed with the quickness and efficiency of all staff involved.

The receptionists are rude,we are not allowed to be rude to them, and tell them to stop talking about their personal lives in public, I saw a reply from the surgery about they are very busy and get stressed, a lot of people work in a customer environment and i am one of those we are not allowed to be rude, they need to smile more and make patients more aware if your appointment is running late,,can't get appointments, but when I have seen my doctor he is fantastic.

Thank you for your feedback which will be shared with our team. We are constantly monitoring, our staff levels and matching resources to anticipated demand thereby reducing the queues at reception. All our surgeries have self-check-in screens which are proven to reduce queues and we encourage all our patients to use this if possible.

Thank you for your feedback. We run immunisation campaigns throughout the year to ensure that we offer our patients the best possible care, meaning that reminders are regularly sent to our patients. When you attend for an immunisation, you will be offered further immunisations if these are clinically indicated which you can choose to accept or decline.
