Tetanus vaccination

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I checked in at reception for tetanus vaccination on 21 November, having previously been advised an appointment was not necessary. 45 minutes later, and after checking with reception twice that I had not been forgotten I was called. During my time in the waiting area nobody else was there except for one patient who arrived after 30 minutes had passed.
The actual procedure was swift and I have no complaints.

Friendly and gentle

There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

New to the surgery, I found the premises clean and welcoming, my face to face at the reception and over the telephone booking an appointment has varied though.
The doctor I saw was relaxed, knowledgeable and patient. I wouldn't hesitate to seek his advice again.

Triage

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I think the gp surgery should have a duty of care to patients all day from 8-6 like other surgeries. To be told at 10.30am the morning list is "full" and to call back at 2 or go to St Mary's in the mean time is poor.
Booking appointments is still extremely frustrating, both on the phone and online.

Information on NHS choices indicated my possible condition needed to start treatment within 72 hours.
Had consultation same day, given a diagnosis, started medication, the condition cleared up very quickly.

Not my usual surgery

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I was sent to this surgery, due to no one being available at my surgery. Initially a lack of signs as to where to enter, meant I entered by the incorrect door. I was confused as to where reception was, and wandered through corridors and rooms and couldn’t find reception. Eventually after asking, I was directed to the reception area, which was very crowded with a long queue at the desk, which I stood in for 15 minutes before being advised by the receptionist, that I should have checked myself in on a computerised system, which I was unaware of because I had not visited a surgery for some time. The nurse that I saw was pleasant, efficient and professional, and prescribed treatment and advised I could get it at the adjacent chemist. My overall experience could have been a lot easier if this Victorian styled building had clearer signage from the main entrance for both driving and walking patients.

All our surgeries have self-check-in screens which are proven to reduce queues and we encourage all our patients to use this if possible.

I went to my surgery in the morning to book an appointment expecting to get one in the next few future. The reason was urgent enough for the receptionist to book one in the afternoon. I was seen on the same day by a lady GP which was appropriate for the purpose of my visit. It was dealt quickly and professionally. I received a letter for another appointment at QA a couple of days later.
