I arrived early, was seen early and the process was carried out extremely efficiently. The ladies concerned were extremely pleasant and overall it was a very good experience.

Experienced some good things

5 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

I have experienced some good things when having to go to the surgery. I have always managed to get an appointment even when being told I should phone up later, but the receptionist managed to get me an appointment because I was in so much pain which turned out to be an appendicitis and an abscess. Which involved me going into hospital, so thankful for that.

I was very pleased with how quick I saw the doctor, in fact it was just before my allotted time. The doctor was very pleasant and helpful. He carried out a full check up on me and gave clear instructions. I was also pleased with the flu and tetanus injections

The surgery is getting worse, I've been trying to see my own GP for 6 months about on going health problems and still cant get an appointment! Can't get an appointment at Cosham to see anyone, am now having to go to Somerstown to see a Dr which is no good for people with anxiety. Also repeat prescription is constantly being messed up.

We are constantly reviewing the service which we deliver and have launched a new Model of Care recently. This has been designed to provide an increased availability and length (15 minutes) of routine appointments.

It took nearly three weeks to get a five minute appointment which went well.
I tried to book on line an available doctors appointment for half an hour earlier. This was refused because I already had a blood test booked. I now have to return a week later to see the doc.

I was feeling extremely ill when i went to the surgery. I requested that the staff key in my car registration so that I would not get a £70 parking fine as I did last time when I attended the surgery. They refused stating you are only going to be here ten minutes. There are two toilets in the surgery and I needed to use one of them but one toilet was occupied by a man who had the key so I had to stand in the queue for a long time even though i felt too ill to stand there. the man behind me said he was going to take his son to urinate down the drain round the corner . The Dr was running late which is acceptable in a busy surgery but by the time I had seen the doctor and had an examination, made an appointment with the asthma nurse etc time was ticking away. I stood in the queue at the pharmacy for as long as I could but I had to Keep sitting down because I was in too much pain to stand. I had to keep going outside for fresh air anyway because I could not breathe. I kept loosing my place in the pharmacy queue. In the end I just went home because I knew I would get another parking ticket. By the time I waited for Aldi lorries to get out of my way and for people chatting be hind me to move it was a very close run thing. I have needed a routine appointment for ages but I can not get one at all. I am told by social services that I need a mobility assessment because there are better mobility aids for a severely disabled person like myself however when I try to get an appointment I am told all the routine appointments are all gone. I am suffering because I cant get an appointment at all. I have an appointment with the asthma practitioner coming up soon I know how bad i felt after the last time i had tests done to assess my asthma and do not believe I will be able to drive home safely straight away afterwards. My only income is benefits and I cannot afford to pay between £50 to £100 for a supported taxi to take me to and from the surgery. I have decided go and see a GP privately it makes more sense financially I will get 30 mins for £80. I can never get an appointment at the surgery anyway I am told that is because the appointments all go out online. I cannot always use a computer because of my complex medical problems.

Medication review

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful whilst dealing with some very demanding patients (not me). The doctor took time to ask how "things were going" and took a real interest in what I said. He explained the changes he had made to my medication and explained why he had made the changes. I was treated with respect and felt positive about the outcome.
I am very grateful to be a patient at Kingston Crescent Surgery.

After changing doctors I was a bit apprehensive especially as I’ve not long suffered my second mental health breakdown and I find it hard with change. But I shouldn’t of worried because my new doctors are absolutely fabulous. They put you at ease and actually read your medical notes before you go into see them. Can’t rate them any higher. I’d just like to add the reception staff are second to none and I’d like to thank all of the practice.

I am very disappointed that after waiting online for almost one and a half hours I was told that I would need to go to the walk in centre as the list was now closed, especially as my appointment was concerning an on going problem for which I had seen a GP about a week earlier.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.
