The treatment was very good. The reception was prompt and the waiting time to see the Doctor was short. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. The examination was thorough and the Doctor clearly explained his findings and that a letter was being was being sent to arrange a further examination by a dermatologist.

They do, however, work in what can, at times, be a stressful environment and have to endure unacceptable levels of abuse. The compulsory 20 minute wait before initial contact is made, very frustrating and causes anger and stress for the patient, constantly being told to ring back when not busy, and then being told your number 25 in the queue with another 10 minute wait. This is the 21st Century not the 19th!!. Contact today should be quicker and easier. Not longer to help Doctors. More resources required, people at end of telephones not computers and Doctors to see patients face to face.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We are constantly looking at ways of improving access to our patients, at a challenging time for the NHS in general and for Primary Care in particular. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further changes where we can.

Online repeat prescription nightmares

I was told 8/9 months ago that the only way to request repeat prescriptions for life saving medication for my son and myself was online - we are given the login / passwords and off we go. Not once, never, in all of that time has any prescription request been fulfilled correctly - I find that this is wholly the person who reads and completes the prescription requests to be at fault - I take screen shots of what is requested. Imagine collecting a prescription from the chemist where incorrect items have been issued, the cost of this?! I have to make a telephone call to the surgery where I’m mostly faced with unhelpful and unprofessional service excusing the errors as either my fault, the chemists fault, another persons or even the other surgery’s fault, never with exception of once with an apology. When I call I am always told what the incorrect prescription is that has been issued - I have to push for them actually read what the requested items were and then they tell me they will get it issued for the next day, no apology?! I can not believe that this is actually the level of service I’ve come to expect. I’ve asked repeatedly whom I need to speak to about this level of service and have never received a name, position or address.

I’m giving this review as honest as I can be, and I am not one to normally say such things but it needs to be said.
This is my experience on the last few visits. I personally have found that the medical staff are absolutely brilliant, efficient, kind, polite and professional, unlike the receptionists!!
Geez!!! The receptionists are nothing short of rude! They are uneducated simple minded and common, and quite frankly NOT what you want to hear picking up the phone nor having to deal with when your poorly.
Disgusting behaviour and manners towards hard of hearing elders or poorly people.
I have been shocked on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately the Surgery is a part of the Portsdown group which leaves us little choice on changing surgeries.
So it’s a case of sit down, shut up, and wait months to be seen if your lucky enough to have an appointment.
So, as I said above, moaning isn’t something I do but this questionnaire was asked of me.
It needs to be said if there’s an opportunity to actually improve the service.

Had to attend here as no appointments available at Crookhorn. Not been here before. Grateful to be seen that day but wouldn’t want to go that far too often. Very helpful, did not have to wait for too long to be seen. Hoping any follow up can be done at Crookhorn, for convenience.

As a productive member of society and works very hard to support my family. I pay taxes. I never can get an appointment with my doctor. Always with a practitioner nurse. I would like to remind you as a tax paying citizen that should be able to see my doctor as I need to speak and get my medication sorted out and speak about certain subjects. I think this surgery has no respect for a lot of their customers.

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.
