Contraceptive Pill Request!
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
I recently came in to ask for an emergency packet of contraceptive pills as I was going on holiday and didn’t realise I didn’t have enough, which I have done a number of times in the past!
The receptionist on this particular day wouldn’t help me and said because the chemist was open I needed to proceed to them and make the request?
After going into the chemist they told me that they would only prescribe me a spare packet if the doctors were closed in which they weren’t!
So Back off to the doctors I went explaining to them the response of the chemist! He still would not look into helping me get a packet for that day and so I had to go away without enough pills! I’m still unclear as to what service should have been provided this day and feel frustrated that no one would help me at all when before it’s been no problem!
The result in this lack of service was unprotected for over two months as I had to wait 2 months for my period to come before I could re take the pill!
So frustrating!

Thank you for your feedback. Due to the high demand for GP services, we have implemented a strict list of urgent medications that due to the nature must be supplied within 24 hours, this has meant regrettably, that all other prescriptions are now requiring 72 hours to turnaround.

The phone consultation was excellent in every way. The booking process, however, was tedious and frustrating. The On-line booking system is very limited and seldom offers any general appointments, so patients are forced to phone up, wait for the ridiculous, patronising message to end before finally getting onto a queue to be told repetitively that my call is important (no shit, Sherlock) When eventually connected to a 'care navigator' (another ridiculous term, bordering on offensive), they are usually helpful and efficient.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Flu Jab
This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery
Arrived at the walk-in surgery, without appointment, for flu jab. Had that plus jabs for MMR and Tetanus, all done very quickly, in and out within 15 minutes. To be fair though, the waiting room was empty!!

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery
I was advised twice that a walk in surgery for flu vaccination was from 8am to 2pm and no appointment was necessary. On arriving at the surgery at 12: 25pm I was advised that there was no surgery since it had finished at 12pm and that the message was in error and that this was known within the practice. Hence I would have to come back at a later date. Since there was 3 weeks between the 2 messages sent I think this was sufficient time for the error to have been corrected and avoided wasting time and money on unnecessary journeys to the surgery. At my second successful visit the service was very good.
I have visited walk in surgeries at Crookhorn over a number of years and they have invariably been problematic - excuses have been - no doctor available because he is in a meeting - come back another day; after a 2hour wait with a number of other people - we forgot about you! Obviously further refinement is required if this system is to continue.

I was made an appointment within 15 mins of things ( blood pressure) escalating and saw an amazing doctor who I felt really listened and understood my concerns re HRT / blood pressure and anxiety.

I telephoned on the morning. Within a minute a doctor phoned me back. We had a brief conversation and I was offered an appointment two hours later. The appointment was on time and I was seen by a friendly and knowledgeable doctor who put me at ease.

Running on time. Plenty of free parking. 6 week baby check went great, staff member was friendly and answered my questions. Helpful that I could book my babies jabs at Crookhorn for Cosham Park House so I didnt need to phone Cosham Park House.

Recent phone call

Once again, I called for an appointment and once again, I get incredibly stressed because I have to wait on hold for ages, then can't get an appointment, and finally I get contradictory information. It doesn't matter when I call, it is always: the wrong time, too late, too early or the wrong line!
I tried online, and I guess I was too late for that too as there were no doctors appointments left when I logged in.

My telephone appointment was useless although at my previous appointment I was asked to call back when my blood test results were available. I was offered no further advice on what to do to reduce the pain. At the previous appointment only paracetamol had been prescribed. I was told I had to wait for the Physio-team.

Flu jabs and general appointments
This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery
We recently attended Cosham for flu jabs on a drop in basis which is helpful - although waited over half an hour to be seen.
We note that you have changed the time that general appointments can be made from to 10am "to make it easier for your patients". This does not make it easier for working patients who are in work at that time and can't make calls from the workplace. I know appointments are available from 1900 on line but have never yet seen any when I have needed one. It is virtually impossible to get a routine appointment now, which isn't really acceptable. The only way to get an appointment is to try to ring on the day for triage meaning you take an appointment from someone who might have more urgent need. I am afraid I never had more difficulty getting an appointment than I do with Cosham.

I have attended the surgery twice in the last week, the first occasion was for a medication review with Dr Manning he decided but based on my chest pain I should attend accident and emergency at QA. I am very grateful for his intervention. The second occasion was merely to have my blood pressure checked Dr Manning happened to be in the office and was able to spend a few moments with me for which I was most grateful. I am fully aware of the demands on doctors and their services and I am most grateful for the time and intervention that Dr Manning Was able to provide me with. Thank you to all concerned.

Getting through on phone lines for emergency is very difficult, I got engaged tone which repeatedly rang off, so I went into the surgery hence I got a slot later, bypassing the phone, but that’s biased towards those who lives nearby and have a car. The doctor was excellent with me, I was seen promptly. I Would only recommend others to join this surgery if this issue is fixed
