Collect letter regarding referral

Letter should have been delivered to Heyward Road surgery so visit should not have been necessary. However Dr Ola kindly gave me the flu and tetanus vaccination I was due..

You never call, you never write...

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I've been let down time and time again by the surgery, I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't get a Drs appointment, I logon online at 7pm promptly and there are just no appointments. So instead I'm offered an appointment with the pharmacist, I wait 2 weeks and they don't bother to call. The receptionists are always polite and apologetic but it's hardly their fault.

Polite and sympathetic

Helpful and patient Dr. Gave good instructions and explanation for the changes to my medications. Appointment was on time.
I was really sad to hear the abuse that the reception staff were taking whilst I sat waiting for my appointment, they remained polite and sympathetic even whilst being shouted at.

Had a blood test ,the young lady was very good, had a chat, very relaxed, it's just a shame that you can't get an appointment to see a doctor at all, I have a heart condition but just feel your let down it this respect don't get much help from reception they just say to go online but been trying that every day for last week it's a joke really.

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

Undetected urinary tract infection

As I've received this survey after having a few stitches removed, I don't feel it's representative of how patients are treated, at the Kingston Crescent Surgery. A short while ago, I came into the Surgery doubled over in pain, a Dr made me feel like I'm wasting the surgeries time coming in. His attitude was; "& why have you come here with this" He tested me for infection, & gave the all clear. As the horrendous pain was in no way subsiding, I decided later at night; about 11pm, to go to the walk-in centre at St Marys. They tested me, & confirmed I had a urinary tract infection. I was confined to bed for 5 days, & in agony, not being able to eat much more than fruit, & continually constipated, which was adding to the discomfort. A similar incident happened some years back, when I was sent away, & it turned out I had a bust appendix.

Two appointments different reasons

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

In the first instance my wife tried to get help with excruciating back pain and could not get to toilet without help. There was no way she could get to the surgery and the telephone support was worse than useless and made the pain worse. The second reason was blurring in both of my eyes and following a call from the doctor I got an appointment that morning. Although the doctor was apologetic they could do nothing and I had to arrange an emergency appointment at my opticians.

Blood test appointment

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

As usual the reception staff were lovely (Melanie and Lisa are always 2 that stand out to me as being fantastic staff members and are always so helpful).
Karen does my blood test, I can be hard to get blood from but she took the time to listen as to where is normally best etc and managed first time even using a normal needle rather than the butterfly line that more often than not required to take my blood. She made me feel at ease and completely relaxed meaning the needle going in was so gentle and painless. I normally bruise badly after bloods too and this time have the most minuscule bruise imaginable.

Vaccinations

Returned to surgery for second vaccination for MMR, only waited about 5mins before being called in, would not have known about keeping my vaccinations up to date if I had not dropped in about my husbands medication, they updated my husbands as well.

I have been a bit poorly lately and was getting very depressed. Do feel that I was almost rescued by Dr Kydd.i actually saw her twice in surgery when she took charge a sorted out tests and treatments enabling me to make a positive if slow recovery. Now however it's not so easy to get just a phone consultation with her.the time of your doctor knowing you has past which I lament .Any way have a call with a different doctor.so will see how that goes.

Thank you for your comments. We do, of course, recognise the clinical benefits of providing continuity of care to our patients and, wherever possible, we do provide this. However, due to the well-publicised increasing demand on Primary Care, this is regrettably not always possible. All of our clinicians have access to full patient clinical records which ensures that they can make properly informed decisions regarding a patient's care.
