Recent Appointment

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

Missing the personal touch that Heyward Road used to provide. Don't like the automated check-in - witnessed one woman who had been checked in by it despite the appointment being a different day, leading to much confusion! Feels more like you're in a bank than a doctor's surgery! No community spirit here. Wish there were more appointments at Heyward Road, which is much closer to home. The GP I saw was polite, but it's unlikely you'll be able to book the same one each time! Had no contact with the receptionist at all.

I had a bad flare up of diverticulitis which was causing me to be in immense pain ... Thanks to the doctors help the problem was dealt with effectively with the help of a course of antibiotics which cleared it up within a week.

I went to see a nurse practitioner a couple of weeks ago as iIsuffer from sinusitis a lot and it give me a lot of pain. I waited for seven days before I went to the doctor and I had green mucus coming from my nose. I was just saying how my GP usually gives me antibiotics when things get that bad and he said as a medical professional I am not going to give you antibiotics and you can't come in here demanding antibiotics and that is not what I was doing. So I asked could I have anything for the bad pain I was in as i am allergic to codeine and I can't take ibuprofen as I have tummy trouble he then said if you will not take codeine then you just have to suffer so I did very badly and two days later I had to ring up as I was very ill and in a lot of pain. I was then given antibiotics, I was so upset, I am thinking about changing my GP over about forty years with you.

Holiday Inoculations

We were booked as a family to have inoculations for a holiday to Mexico. We were seen on time and the nurse practitioner was informative and thorough in explaining what was needed and why. She also covered all other possible risks in detail and all with a smile!

This is a review for Heyward Road Surgery & Practice

My appointment was perfect. However the next arrangements for making the appointment with the Respiratory Obstructive Clinic are ridiculous. Firstly I receive a text instructing me to collect my booking details from my surgery. Arriving at Heyward Rd (my surgery) I discover they are at Sommerstown. You may have combined them, but they are separate places. I receive a letter that you have decided not to post to reduce costs. You may be neglecting your own staffs time spent in finding this envelope, then explaining why it couldn't be posted, nor emailed, or texted. You are certainly neglecting my time & effort in collecting this.Then I am expected to carry a letter with access codes wherever I go until the clinic may contact me, which may well not be until July 2nd. Information which could have been supplied in the original text (even though it is a back to front method of maintaining confidentiality). So unimpressed!

We are constantly looking at ways we can maintain up to date records so that going forward we can email and text message, where appropriate to ensure we are maintain confidentiality. We are sorry that we sent your letter to the wrong surgery, we do make mistakes and will share this with our team to avoid this happening in the future.
