Emergency visit

Called surgery 9.15am to ask for referral letter. Was told Dr. Would call back which he did within an hour and was told I could be seen that morning at 11am. Was seen about 11.15 so not long wait at all

I prefer to use Paulsgrove Surgery. It is closer to home, the doctor I see is patient with me and I find the nurses especially are so kind and make me feel relaxed.

I was seen promptly

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I had an appointment with Dr Babatolu. I was seen promptly. He was very understanding and asked relevant questions about my reason for requesting an appointment. He diagnosed a problem I suspected I had, and was able to reassure me that another issue I consulted him about (circulation in feet) was nothing to worry about, having examined my feet and taken the pulse in each. He also took my blood pressure and gave me a vaccination. I discussed with Dr Babatolu whether to take medication for another complaint (Raynauds) but I decided against taking daily medication as I don't get symptoms very often, & Dr Babatolu was very understanding and respectful of this. I couldn't have asked for better service.

Emergency cortisone injection

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

Well, the two GP’s who dealt with me were fantastic. I called surgery in morning as in acute pain with return of my calcium on shoulder. GP called and I requested pain killer and referral back to St Mary’s specialist who dealt with me last time, explains over past 3 days the pain was getting worse and unable to move arm. GP explained could be done in next 40 minutes by another. Husband dressed me and drove me to surgery and I was seen to. Although the cortisone actually worsened the pain for the next 12 hours it then started to get better. I am not 100% better but definitely improving. Apologies for not having both their names but would like to thank them for dealing with this so quickly.

Understaffed

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

Getting an appointment with a doctor is a bit of a nightmare, this surgery is very understaffed for doctors. Never used to be like that when it was just Heyward Rd and not Portsdown Hill Group.
My other issue is that a family member suffers from chronic pain and there’s not been much help.

Thank you for your feedback. It is well publicised that access and appointments for Primary Care is going through exceptionally difficult times. We are constantly monitoring, our staff levels and limited resources, to offer the maximum number of appointments that we can. Chronic pain can be difficult to treat as often requires investigation and sometimes referral, unfortunately a solution is not always possible.

Blood Test

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

The nurse that I saw was considerably skilled at withdrawing blood from my arm. At various surgeries and hospitals over the years I’ve experienced queasy episodes of medical staff searching for the elusive veins with the needle still attached. I always feel more confident with nurse at this surgery, she is very efficient and easy to talk to.
