Fantastic GP's, nurses, receptionists

My experience with this surgery since 2002 and never moved to another one else because very fantastic GP's, nurses, receptionists. They have good morals, helpful and co- operative ladies and gentlemen. I appreciate your support and great efforts since that time up to date. Thanks.

Routine appointment within an hour of ringing

This is a review for Heyward Road Surgery & Practice

I needed to speak to a GP and was lucky enough to be offered a routine appointment within an hour of ringing. I thought I would need to have a telephone consultation but on this occasion I was offered a face to face appointment. My issue was dealt with and I was also given a vaccination that was due whilst I was there (lucky me!)

I visited the surgery one year ago, asking for a referral to the Endocrinology and Metabolic Medicine Dept. I was referred instead to a Neurologist in Southampton. I am aware that my Metabolic disorder does not show damage in a female brain, but I went a long with it all. I returned to your surgery a year later, and requested a referral once again. The doctor has no knowledge of my condition, (Adrenoleukodystrophy) so I would appreciate him accepting my knowledge of the condition. He offered me a blood test for the adrenal glands, but that is still not tackling the full nature of my condition. ALD Life, (Charity) have advised me to see the said department. I am also fully aware of other females who go to the said department, all around the country. To add to all this, I was very anxious, and it turned into a panic attack, I then had to leave. I am no wiser as to what happens next.

The senior nurse who treated me was friendly and nice, she gave me detailed information regarding my health and what steps were to be taken due to my high blood pressure. The follow up and aftercare is also excellent.

The experience tends to be hit and miss. Sometimes you are greeted and treated well. You get a decent diagnoses and treatment other times you are passed on until the issues becomes worse. It is a shame that if you are a few minutes late you will loose your appointment yet the surgery can be an hour late and you have no warning. Regular appointments are like gold dust. 9/10 I will wait til I really need help or I wouldn't be seen

We are sorry that you find our service to be 'hit and miss', If you are late the decision is then with the clinician as to whether there is available time for you to be seen. When our clinicians are running late themselves, the booking-in screen will advise the delay and our reception staff are also trained to advise.

Arranging appointments as bad as usual. Electric checking does not work, you have to guess where to go as did not tell you which waiting room.
No human contact, consultation seamed rushed, nurse just going through motions saying if your foot hurts see a doctor, so nothing new just poor service.

It is well publicised that access and appointments for Primary Care is going through exceptionally difficult times. We are constantly monitoring, our staff levels and limited resources, to offer the maximum number of appointments that we can. The booking-in screen will provide the Waiting Room number, treatment room and the name of the clinician you will be seen by, this has been in place for the last 2 weeks, after it was realised that this was an issue, you should have no issues with this going forward. We are sorry that during your consultation that a diagnosis could not be offered and a further appointment was required with a doctor. We hope that you will receive a service to your expectations in the future.
