This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

Over the past 16 years, I've been seen by some very caring, competent and professional staff at Cosham Park House. Their care has made a vital difference on at least two occasions that could have had very serious outcomes without their prompt action.

I've always been able to get an appointment when it's been urgent and have never had to resort to going elsewhere. Getting a routine appointment does require some patience, but this is a reflection of the chronic under-funding imposed on the NHS, not some mean-spirited ploy by Practice staff.

Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you find our Reception / Contact Centre staff to be "rude" we would like to assure you that all of our staff are fully trained in customer care. They do, however, work in what can, at times, be a stressful environment and have to endure unacceptable levels of abuse. Thank you again for your feedback, which will be shared with our Surgery Reception Teams.

No response causing missed vaccination deadline

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I'm meant to have travel vaccinations before I go away. I've completed the online form ten days ago. I had a call to check some details but then haven't heard a peep. I therefore completed the form again and didn't hear anything. Just tried calling to receive a prerecorded message saying the practice is closed. I'm now going to miss the deadline as vaccinations should be administered six weeks before travelling.

I've never had a bad experience. Everyone here has been very professional at all times. It's funny how no one can get an appointment, but in September 2018, there were 197 missed appointments .

Appointments...

2 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I have been a patient of this surgery for over twenty years , and get more frustrated when I am ill and cant even get to speak to a doctor unless I say its an emergency to be seen that day, which is not always the case but as mentioned in the other reviews to get an appointment is near on impossible. After being told to call back at two as all the appointments have been taken that day , call back at two to an answering machine normally saying number 15 in the queue, after at least a twenty minute wait to be answered to then be told to try again at 8 in the morning, or to go to st marys walk in centre.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

I have been seen by an outstanding nurse manager with the Portsdown Group who is empathetic and very caring, she seems to be one of the rare people who genuinely cares and takes time to ensure that the problem is resolved as much as is possible - she is a credit to her profession and the Portsdown Group.

Zero bedside manner!!!

I was referred to portsdown practice by the rheumatology dept. At Q.A. Today because, as a result of being on immunosuppressants, I had developed a streptococcus infection in three of my toes. I was phoned by A doctor from Somerstown who read the microbiology report and recommendation tp prescribe antibiotics. I told him I was allergic to penicillin. And some other antibiotics and he became very impaitiened and rude and to my astonishment said- “I have limited options here. What do you want me to do?” I was tKen aback and replied “I don’t know. You are the doctor” he then repeated the question and I answered that as the i de toon was serious the hospital were expecting him to provide antibiotics. Thankfully, I was the sent to Kingston practice where I was treated by the nurse manager , who couldn’t have been lovelier or more empathetic

Repeat prescriptions

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

workingfeedback logo
Please can someone tell me why there is always a problem when I apply for a repeat prescription at either the surgery or pharmacy?. Eg. I requested a repeat prescription on August 1st. When I went to the pharmacy today 8th August I am told after 10 minutes of searching that they hadn't received. I went across to the surgery only to be informed that it hadn't be issued but agree that it should have been. The receptionist said she would print it out and I could collect it this evening. I am not able to do this.i am in constant pain with arthritis an this medication is for pain relief. I can no longer be bothered with all this inefficiency so will not be asking for repeat medications for this and high blood pressure. It's too much to cope with.

Thank you for your feedback. Due to the high demand on GP services, it is regrettable, but necessary, for patients' to take ownership for ensuring timely requests for the medication they require. We would suggest your sign up for on-line prescription requests to avoid any delays.

appointments

.I have been a patient with this surgery for many years ,in the past I have had good service but now find the practise too large. You can never obtain an appointment, when required, unless you say it is urgent, even if not.. I have been trying on and off since March 2018,to have a routine appointment, after having received two letters, from my practise requesting me ,to make a routine appointment ,as my GP wished to dicuss a matter with me . So, although they request to see or have a discussion with me ,i still can not obtain an appointment.. I ,work, ironically,in the NHS, so can not phone every day from 8am , waiting for an answer to then be told, allroutine appoinments have gone .Why can you only make them one week in advance ? What was wrong with the system in the past ,when doctor requested ,make an appointment for next month,2 months ,6 months etc which was then put in a diary .The system used now, does not work for many people. I think i am giving up.

Unable to make an appointment

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I have been trying to get a routine appointment for four weeks now, all that’s available on line in cervical screening clinics. I did make a complaint and was informed there was not much they can ups do.
I was disappointed to find out that they have reduced their phone lines to only 15 to cover 6 surgeries and this is because they have had complaints about patients being on hold. Really poor for the biggest surgery in the area!

Very rude staff at reception

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

This surgey is the most awful surgey that I have ever encountered. The staff are awfully rude and treat people with no respect. I tried ringing the surgey several times today and the phone was picked up, no answer and then the phone was disconnected on me. I then visited the surgey to make an appointment and was rudely told that in order to make travel appointment the doctor will call me, which I thought was bizarre. Have not received a call from the doctor yet. The staff at the reception could have been more respectful. Disgusting behaviour and staff like that should not be representing the surgey. It is highly embarrassing.

Medication help

5 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Heyward Road Surgery & Practice

workingfeedback logo
Having received only partial of a recent prescription and running quite low, after speaking to the pharmacy I found out that the supplier could not say when it would be back, so I asked for a phone consultation, and after relaying this to the Dr he sorted out an emergency prescription for the following day, but low and behold it arrived that evening.

So I would like to thank the Dr concerned In helping me out in this situation.

Appalling

This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I used the NHS website to find out my local GP after moving and it came up as Paulsgrove. I took my son down to register him and was told to phone to get a routine appointment. I managed, a week later, to get through to the receptionist and make an appointment. During the appointment I was given an emergence referral to a peadiatrician. I was then phoned later in the week to say that I had to register my son at a different GP due to the post code. I confirmed that this would not effect his referral and was told that as the referral had already taken place this would not happen. I contacted the surgery the following week as I had not heard anything about a follow up appointment, to which I was told that the referral had never been placed and that they would not do it due to my post code and there was nothing they would do to help. I think this is unacceptable and has now put a minimum delay of a month on to my 6 month olds emergency referral.

appointments frustration

Trying to get an appointment is near on impossible. I phoned at 8am to make an appointment ,on hold for ages and then someone answered it, just to be told no appointments available for next 4 weeks!!!!! and told to phone next week! What I don't understand is the other day I went in to pickup a repeat prescription and looked in all 3 waiting rooms and there was not ONE single patient in any. The surgery was completely empty so how come no-one can get an appointment. My wife went in a couple of weeks earlier and she said exactly the same NO-ONE is at all. What's going on??
