The law requires we have insurance. We used to use a small company in Exeter who seemed to understand the very low risk of public liability injury claims when the club members are of an average age of about 75. They seemed to understand that the club's assets were cheap to replace and unlikely to be stolen. Then this small insurance company was taken over by a larger company. Bigger, no different cover but more expensive. The cover is still the same but it costs more. Makes you hate capitalism.

Easy renewal
I’ve got an insurance policy with Magnet Insurance to cover my model railway collection. The policy doesn’t auto-renew but a month before it’s expiry I received a reminder. It was a simple process to call Magnet and speak to their very helpful, friendly and courteous representative and to arrange the renewal of my policy. I had to set up a new credit agreement as I pay monthly but that was all done online after Magnet sent me an E-mail with the link.
Magnet provide a specialist policy for my models that is much more comprehensive, specialist and relevant than can be obtained through normal house insurance and I highly recommend them.

I need insurance for my hobby
As a stamp and postal historian, I need insurance to cover my collection when I visit a society or group interested in viewing and listening to my talks. Magnet took over from my old insurance provider, who I was with for many years. The insurance business is becoming more expensive and those of us who choose to show must meet certain insurance criteria regarding the venues we visit. Usually this involves being insured for loss and theft, when at the venue.
As I am new to Magnet Insurance I found the paperwork was well explained and easy to follow. The rising cost was accepted because everything has gone up and I needed their services. In a competitive market who is say what will happen next time my policy is due.

Third party insurance for a model boat club
Tynemouth Model Boat Club pays the council to use the boating lake in Tynemouth Park. As part of the lease, we are obliged to have third party insurance for the risk of injury to all members of the public who use the park. Magnet Insurance understood our requirements and offered a reasonably priced policy. The company that we first took out this insurance policy from was named Stamp who specialised in small club policies. I guess Magnet has taken them over. I hope Magnet continue to understand the requirements of small clubs like ours.
