Smooth transaction

This came up as cheapest household insurance on a comparison website. I filled in the questionnaire and bought the policy online. I had no contact with anyone. A paper policy document came by post a few days later. All seems fine at present but cannot comment on their handling of claims.

There is perhaps a lack of flexibility vis a vis the requirements for an absence from the home on holiday (re house contents policy) in excess of 30 days-'its what the underwriters require and they require these conditions to be met'. For example the loft hatch has to be left open whilst on holiday even though there are no tanks or pipes in the loft. The underwriters do not seem to have heard of combi- boilers and freeze settings etc. Apart from this rather annoying lack of flexibility no other problems in setting up the new contents policy.

Thanks for your feedback. The intention of this Special Clause is to reduce the risk of burst water pipes and tanks located in roof spaces, caused by freezing and thawing. If there is no water sited in the loft or roof space, then clearly there is no benefit to leaving a loft hatch open and Underwriters would suffer no detriment if you decided not to it open .

Simple efficient process

I originally completed the details on comparison website and selected Magnet as a possible insurer. Was delighted with the simple efficient process of handling the phone call.

Took total of less than 5 minutes were the previous company (one of the big national outfits) kept me on phone for over 1 hour 20 minutes only to quote a ridiculous high premium.

Patient and courteous

Thorough and sympathetic discussion about our insurance needs. Not at all pushy,emphasised there was a cooling off period when the policy could be cancelled.

There were a few provisos as we had building work in progress. Insisted we understood and read these before taking up the policy.

Very efficient, helpful and polite

When I spoke with the sales person he was very efficient, helpful and polite, took time to talk through all the details of the cover and phoned back when he said he would.
Great price as well, we had phoned round a couple of insurance companies and Magnet was the cheapest, but the best cover. So really pleased with the service. I have recommended Magnet to my colleagues as we have other tenancies that need cover renewing in the coming months.

I recently received my renewal notice for house buildings and contents insurance. I noted that the price had increased by quite an amount - so I contacted Magnet who promptly investigated and realised there was a mistake and re-sent out an updated renewal offer which I accepted. The staff were very helpful and sorted the issue out promptly
